About Naramachi

奈良町は、元興寺の旧境内一帯―江戸時代以降、宿場町として栄えた地域です。東大寺や奈良公園のにぎわいから少し離れた一帯には、古い町並みと小さな寺社がいまも残り、そこに暮らす人々の生活の中で息づいています。

昔から変わらず商売を営まれている、銭湯、お好み焼き屋さん、焼鳥屋さん、酒屋さん、八百屋さん…そして、そんな雰囲気に惹かれて集まってくる、若く小さなカフェやレストラン、雑貨屋さん。どれもがゆったりとした店構えで、町並みに溶け込んでいます。

Naramachi grew around the old grounds of Gango-ji Temple and became a lively post town in the Edo period. Just a short walk from Nara Park, the streets are quiet and lined with small temples and traditional houses. You’ll find cozy, old-style shops—public baths, okonomiyaki restaurants, yakitori bars, cafés, and small stores. Everything blends softly into the streets, giving the neighborhood its calm, welcoming feel. Life here moves at a gentle pace.
